The complete guide
Getting the best from a simple floating fountain
A simple fountain still benefits from a little thought about placement and spray. Here is how to get the most from it.
Chase the sun for a taller jet
The 60 cm spray needs good, direct light. Give it the sunniest, most open spot you have and keep the panel out of shade, and you will get the full show; in weaker light it settles to a gentler bubble.
Adjust the nozzle to the basin and the wind
Set a taller nozzle in a wide, sheltered bird bath, and a lower one in a small basin or on a breezy day, so the water falls back in rather than onto the ground.
A quick wipe keeps it strong
Clean the panel of dust and water spots and rinse the little filter now and then. On a small fountain, a clean panel and a clear filter make an obvious difference to how high and steadily it sprays.
