The complete guide
Running a fountain in a shady spot with a corded panel
The cord is the whole idea here — it lets you split the sun from the water. Use it to reach spots a floating fountain never could.
Put the panel in the light, the pump in the shade
Find the sunniest spot within cord reach and site the panel there, angled at the sun. Then place the pump in the bird bath, pond or indoor feature, even if that is in shade. The cord carries the power across.
Route the cord tidily and safely
Run the ten-foot cord along a border edge or under gravel so it is out of the way and not a trip hazard. Leave a little slack at the pump end so you can lift it out to clean.
Keep the panel clean for full power
With no battery to fall back on, the fountain only runs as well as the panel charges. Wipe the glass clean of dust and water spots and keep it clear of shade for the strongest, steadiest flow.
